Last night I watched Alice in Wonderland (the 2010 version) for the 2nd time. There are so many good things to say about Alice in Wonderland (in fact, I’ve been flipping through the original book today), but the following clip hit me straight in the gut.
Mad Hatter: You’re not the same as you were before. You were much more…muchier. You’ve lost your muchness.
Alice: My muchness?
Mad Hatter: {Pointing to her heart} In there. Something’s missing.
When I think of muchness, the following comes to mind: energy, spark, oomph, enthusiasm, courage, vitality, spirit, essence, zest for life.
Losing our muchness feels icky. Lack of energy, uninspired, lethargic, and generally un-zesty.
When I saw this clip I realized that I want to live in my muchness more often. If I ever run into a crazy-eyed Johnny Depp in the forest, I do NOT want him telling me I used to be much more muchier. I would like to show up with muchness as the status quo and notice/make changes when things are dampering my muchness.
I started thinking about what it feels like to lose my “muchness,” and what are some of the things that make me feel more or less muchier.
The thing is – we always know when a shadow has been cast over our muchness. The good news is, it’s always there and we can uncover it again with a few simple tricks! :)
How do we embody our muchness more often?
I think the first step is to figure out:
When do you feel like your muchness is in full force? Bring specific moments to mind and list them. In your moments of prime muchness, what are the circumstances? What are you doing, eating, drinking, listening to? Who are you communicating with? What habits are you practicing daily?
For me, I feel like I’m in my prime muchness when…
- I’m running, or right after a great workout
- I’m outside in nature (especially when it’s sunny or I’m near the water)
- I’m really well hydrated
- I’ve been nourishing my body with foods that give me energy (for me usually this means less sugar/grains and more vegetables/protein/high quality fats)
- When I’m laughing with people I love (or laughing in general, but it’s much muchier when it’s with people)
- When I’m being generous, open, vulnerable and loving towards other people
- When I’m excited about a new project or idea
- When I’m exploring somewhere new – a new city, country or neighborhood
- When I am listening to upbeat music (especially hip hop or high energy, inspirational tunes)
- When I journal daily
- When I’m practicing a very high level of self care, including positive mindset shifts (like when I’m doing my Rapid Reset Cleanse)
When are you in your prime muchness? Make a list.
What depletes your muchness? Certain foods, activities, lifestyle habits? Make a list.
Things that deplete my muchness:
- Eating too much sugar/flour/sweeteners
- Drinking too much coffee
- Not getting enough sleep
- Not drinking enough water
- Not being in a habit of exercising regularly
- Being closed off towards others
- Staying inside or being alone too much
- A lack of new experiences
- A lack of writing/journaling/self-reflection
I feel less muchy just reading that list! EEK!!!
I am firmly dedicated to cultivating more of my muchness.
I want to see you in your muchness, too. So let’s make a pact to nurture the things that give us our muchness – energy, vitality, enthusiasm for life – more often. You in?
I have another Alice in Wonderland related blog topic coming this week. It’s super muchy.
Love,
Jenny
