Hey my friends,
Be right back while I change the name of my blog to “Jenny listens to podcasts and shares her favorite one-liners.”
Seriously though, I did that yesterday and I’m doing it again today.
The other day I listened to the Joe Rogan podcast for the first time. I know, how have I not listened to it before? Of course I was familiar with Joe Rogan before this (of course, because he’s one of the biggest float tank supporters…high five). But I hadn’t listened to his podcast.
So, naturally, I embarked on my maiden voyage with the Joe Rogan podcast by listening to a 2 HOUR episode. The one with Tom Bilyeu (founder of Quest Nutrition and Impact Theory, which, by the way, I kind of wish I didn’t click on that Impact Theory link because now I want to listen to every episode…tonight). #ahh
Joel told me I’d like a part in this episode that’s about 45 mins in, where they talk about AI, emotions and decision-making. That part was interesting – BUT, my favorite part actually came at the end when Tom said something that made my stomach do a little flip (in a good way).
“What I do care enough about to put everything at risk and to work as hard as I’m working…is pulling people out of the matrix.
That’s the most sincere thing. The matrix, to me, is a set of limiting beliefs that the vast majority of people have that stop them from achieving what they could achieve in life if they only understood that humans are the ultimate adaptation machines.
I began adapting myself through mindset, and that really showed me how far I was able to come mentally from where I started. As I saw what a huge impact it had on my life – both emotionally and financially – that I can turn myself into what I need to be in order to execute at anything – that changed me so much.”
There’s something so moving to me about hearing someone connect to their WHY.
(And, as you can see from this tweet, I’ve been chirping about us living in the matrix for awhile). ;)
But seriously, I loved that Tom said this is his mission with Impact Theory. It reminded me of the core feeling I have about why I feel inspired to share anything – ever – on this blog.
When my web designer sent me some questions about my purpose behind Healthy Crush, I said:
“I always really connect with Alice in Wonderland when I think about the WHY of my blog. Meaning – the concept of being an “access point” for people to find new and helpful resources, and opening their minds to new possibilities in life.
The image of Alice touching the mirror and realizing she can step through is very powerful to me — that MOMENT when you get a new idea or someone shares a quote, insight, or resource and you think WOW – this just opened up a new realm of possibility for me. That moment makes me feel connected, that moment is why I’m so grateful for all the teachers and bloggers I’ve learned from — and that is what I feel most connected to — having the honor of hopefully helping to provide a moment like that for someone through the ideas and resources that I share.”
That’s all for now. Night. :)
