Ok, folks. So, it’s no secret that meat-reduced diets are healthier for both you and the environment. Research has shown that enjoying a meat-free meal (even just once in awhile) can help control diabetes, lower blood pressure, and lower your risk of cancer. It also reduces your carbon footprint and puts less stress on the planet.
When I first started reducing the amount of animal products in my diet, one of my favorite things that I came upon in the vegetarian world was tempeh. My favorite brand of tempeh is Lightlife. They have a lot of awesome flavors (my personal favorite is flax) and it’s a super cool, delicious and convenient way to make a meal taste “meaty,” but in a way that’s totally plant based. Learn more about tempeh here.
The great thing about Lightlife tempeh is that it’s made with organic whole soybeans. And listen, I’m not saying you should just eat tempeh every day. But you can have a little fun with it and unleash your creative side in the kitchen by incorporating one vegetarian meal per week. Or try out a “flexitarian,” or semi-vegetarian, lifestyle and enjoy meatless meals several times a week. Not so hard, right? In my personal experience, Lightlife tempeh is a delicious and fun way to ease into it. :)
Here are a few of my all time favorite tempeh recipes, all using Lightlife tempeh:
Soba Noodles w/ Spicy Peanut Sauce
