Ever since I first encountered almond butter, I’ve had a continuous, undying love for it. When I found out about RAW almond butter, we got even more serious. While I still enjoy the taste of peanut butter from time to time, I can’t believe I went so many years without the precious gift of almond butter!
What is almond butter?
Almond butter is simply almonds pressed into a yummy paste. I love to buy raw, organic almond butter. It can be more expensive, for sure, but you can find good deals if you look hard enough, and it’s worth it! You can even make your own almond butter if you want to. All you have to do is soak almonds overnight and then blend them up in your food processor or high-powered blender.
Almond butter is delicious, creamy, filling and nutritious. It makes me happy. My usual ritual is to put a big spoonful of almond butter into my morning green smoothie. Lately I’ve been making a smoothie with almond butter, a banana, kale, amazing grass and coconut water or almond milk. BEST EVER!
So…what’s so great about almond butter?
Almond butter benefits:
- Good source of protein
- Keeps you feeling full + satisfied
- Helps control blood sugar
- No hydrogenated oils or sugar (if you pay attention to the label and choose a good brand)
- Gives you energy
- Monounsaturated fats (good for the heart)
- Rich in Vitamin E and fiber
- More delicious than peanut butter (in my opinion)
- Probably tons of other awesome things that I don’t even know about
So, as I mentioned, I love the taste of raw almond butter and I believe organic is always important. When you’re buying almond butter, make sure you buy a kind where the ONLY ingredient is almonds. No sugar or oils or salt.
Almond butter rocks!
