I’m posting a week’s worth of green smoothies as part of my Vitamix giveaway! Enter!
My next couple of smoothies won’t be posted until the beginning of next week…I’ll be out of commission all weekend at a workshop…bettering myself, obv. #Jenny4.0
Anyway, I love basil. Who doesn’t love a good fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil salad? My mom can make an excellent one. But basil ain’t just for salads. It’s for drinking in smoothies too, yo!
After coming up with different smoothie recipes for the past few days, I figured it was time to introduce a new green: ROMAINE LETTUCE! I’ve been sick of using kale and spinach and even spirulina. I think it’s good to rotate your greens anyway. And to rotate your food in general. Too much of anything can get a little excessive. :)
Romaine has a lighter flavor so it makes for a refreshing smoothie. This recipe was inspired by my mojito green juice, except I didn’t use mint because quite frankly I’m sick of it too, after yesterday’s extravaganza.
This one is super refreshing — basil, romaine, green apple, lime, cucumber, ginger, and avocado for smooth texture.
Basil Lover’s Smoothie (serves 2-3)
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves
- 1/2 head of romaine lettuce
- 1 inch piece of ginger
- 1 green apple
- 1 lime
- 1/2 avocado
- 1/2 cucumber
- 1-2 cups of water (add more based on your desired consistency)
- 2-3 ice cubes
Adjust amounts to your personal taste.
Blend in Vitamix!
Refreshing to the max.
