This is my Day 6 recap of my 10-day juice cleanse. I’m using a Breville Elite juicer and juicing different things every day – and sharing the recipes with you. By the end, there will be 10 yummy (hopefully) juice recipes!

On Day 6 I felt the best I have so far on the entire cleanse! I literally felt like I was floating through my day, buzzing with energy. I felt kind of like superwoman. It was a really nice change from Day 5, where my energy and emotions were all over the place.
I started out the day with my classic green juice, my favorite (although this mojito juice I’m sharing today definitely rivals it for top place!) As soon as I drank that juice, I felt really good. I’ve been feeling pretty low energy on this cleanse when I first wake up- but as soon as I get that juice into my body it’s like I’m a new woman.
I spent a lot of time yesterday writing my cleanse recap and responding to blog and twitter comments. There was actually a bit of a healthy debate going on in my comments section, which I LOVED! No matter what people’s opinions are on nutrition (and EVERYONE has one, let’s be honest) – I love hearing them – it’s great research, and I really think hearing different viewpoints is crucial to developing your own intuition.
So, that being said, whether or not you believe cleanses are healthy, I really appreciate you following along and checking out my experience. After all, no cleanse or diet is right for everyone, and I’m just doing what I felt inspired to do – not recommending everyone else follow suit. :)
So, onward. I made the most awesome “mojito” juice – inspired by Gweynth Paltrow’s newsletter. I changed it up a little bit, but that’s where I got the idea.
“Mojito” Juice Recipe
makes 16-20 oz of juice depending on juicer/produce size
- 1 apple
- 1 lime
- 1 cucumber
- 1/2 cup basil
- small handful of fresh mint leaves

You will LOVE this – and it tastes even better cold. My mouth is literally watering just thinking about it – I will definitely have to make it again! Especially in the summertime. So refreshing.
Overall, I drank about 64oz of juice throughout the day. About 40oz of classic green juice and 24oz of mojito juice. I also had a few cups of detox tea, 1 multi-green kombucha, and about 1/2 cup of almond milk before bed. The almond milk really has been helping me get to sleep without feeling hungry – and it’s fun to make and so good.
I’m averaging about that much each day. Around 64 oz usually of fresh juice, plus water/coconut water, herbal tea and a little almond milk. I’m measuring everything in ounces because that’s what my juicer shows me, and the glass jars I’m keeping the juice in are 32oz.
You know, there are different views of whether or not kombucha is suitable for a juice cleanse, but there are probiotics in it, so I felt like it would be beneficial to help with all the detoxing. So I’m ok with it.
Anyway, after I spent time making the mojito juice + an extra 32oz green juice to bring with me for the evening to my friend’s apartment, I went for a 45 minute run. It felt seriously exhilarating. I was listening to this amazing song on my run (Shake it Out by Florence & the Machine), and it just felt so appropriate for my cleanse. I don’t even know why. It just worked. This song just gets me. Anyone else? I mean come on. It’s so good. It gives me chills. Ahh!
“And it’s hard to dance with the devil on your back, so shake him off.” -Florence & the Machine
I hung out at a friend’s apartment for the evening and had a lot of fun. I felt super high energy all night and drank my yummy green juice, water, and tea. I even had enough energy to participate in an interpretative dance to Aladdin’s “A Whole New World” while jumping on the couch. Yes, I’m an adult. I think.
Day 6 stats:
Energy level: Highest yet! I felt like I was flying through the day with ease. Had steady high energy until about 11pm when I started to get tired.
Exercise: 45 minute run outside – felt wonderful
Sleep: Slept great again, aside from having to wake up to go to the bathroom twice. I drank a huge water bottle right before bed. SMART!!!
Weight difference since Day 1: 6 lbs
$ spent today on juice ingredients: $22.42
Feeling: Pretty positive! Day 6 I kept thinking “I love this cleanse” and having happy feelings. The day felt easy.
So here I am on Day 7, sitting at a cafe in Brooklyn, drinking a kale-apple-ginger-lemon juice (it’s really sweet, I think they must have used like 4 apples! yowzers) and feeling pretty accomplished that I’ve gotten this far. Only 3 days left after today! This is crazy!! I feel like I just started.
Oh. I guess I should mention…I scheduled a colonic for later today. It just felt like the right time. Time to wash out all the little toxins that are creeping around inside me! EEEK!! Yes, I’m so nervous. This will be my 3rd time ever, and I can tell you – they aren’t comfortable. But I know I’ll feel great afterwards. Will let you know how that goes in the recap tomorrow!
Thanks again to everyone for your support!! Let me know how your own cleanses are going. Reading everyone’s experiences has made this journey so much more tolerable and enjoyable.
Oh, also, is there anything you guys wanna know that I’m not mentioning in these recaps? Let a cleanser know!!
Love love love.
PS – use a tongue scraper. Toxins are escaping through the tongue! So scrape them off.

Right on, Jenny. And good luck on the last few days. I admire your will power and dedication. I also want to thank you for being so cool about my comment. :) I like that 2 opposing view points can talk without attacking. We could have continued, but it would have gone too long. haha. Although we disagree on the “facts,” it is cool we could write back and forth. I will say, however, that I am not anti-holistic/alternative medicine. In fact, I love searching all natural ways to cure things rather than going for the medicine cabinet. I find so much of it is very beneficial. Some I don’t agree with, some I do, but that’s the beauty of this awesome planet. :)
I also like your juice recipes and will look into making them as snacks from time to time. They sound delicious. I’ll have to experiment with my food processor. Yippie! :)
Will you post your spiritual feelings/stuff that’s going on? That’s something I’d love to read about. :)
Love and luck to you.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! You have really inspired me! I was thinking of doing a combo of smoothies and juices.
How often do you use the tongue scraper?
:)
jenny sansouci says
Thanks, Erena!! I’ve been using it every night when I brush my teeth before bed. Your tongue can start feeling “coated” when you detox, so anytime I feel that way I use the scraper.

Awesome! I love that song, too! Caitlyn played it in a yoga class I took with her a while back and I’ve been obsessed ever since. What kind of yoga classes do you go to? I’ve been going to more of Caitlyn’s classes and they are vinyasa with hip hop music, SO FUN! And she teaches cool stuff, I didn’t know exercise could be so fun! Speaking of exercise, I can’t believe you have the energy for it, you have obviously put a lot of work into making sure this is nutritious and healthy :) Love you!
jenny sansouci says
SHAN! Yes, that song rules. I really want to take one of Caitlyn’s classes. The ones I take are regular vinyasa flow – no hip hop, unfortunately. Sounds like so much fun..one day I’ll come up and join you for one. :) And yes…my energy is different every day but in general I have been feeling OK. Love you too!!

I love that Florence and the machine song. It has been my theme song for taking back my life and getting in shape. I’ve been struggling with my weight and “emotional eating” for about 5 years. I’m only 31 and I feel so tired and broken all of the time. I watched Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead the other night and have been doing constant research on juice fasting since then. I can’t wait to start my juice fast, to feel good again. Thanks for your inspiration!
