I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to blog about my newest love in life. QUORN! I first was blessed with the presence of quorn in my life on Halloween. After a long night out of prancing around in a costume, the only thing to do was, of course, indulge in meatless chicken nuggets.
I had my doubts about these “quorn” nuggets because i have never been a big fan of fake meat. I usually think it tastes weird and rubbery and not worth it. But when someone feels strongly about something, I have to at least try it. So I had someone convincing me that quorn was where it’s at, and that I was missing out on one of life’s delicacies if I didn’t try it.
drum roll please…..QUORN IS AMAZING! these little nugs taste just like chicken and have a great texture, so you get all the beauty of chicken nuggets without the chicken slaughtering and occasional purple vein (sick).
even better are the southwestern flavor. they taste like burger king chicken tenders. for real! im serious that if you’re a vegetarian or even if you eat meat and you just want a delicious snack, eat quorn! and after awhile, the name will get more fun to say. quorn! quorn! quorn! see?
there are a bunch of other awesome quorny products out there too that I can’t wait to try….check em out here.
what exactly IS quorn, you may ask? Here’s the description from quorn.com:
“There are believed to be over 600,000 varieties of fungi in the world, some of which are the most sought after foods like varieties of mushrooms, truffles and morels. The principle ingredient in all Quorn products is mycoprotein (“myco” is Greek for “fungi”). The mycoprotein comes from Fusarium venenatum, which was originally discovered growing in a field in Buckinghamshire, England. In the late 1960s, initial product development began, soon recognizing mycoprotein’s potential as an efficient and nutritious protein source.”
so yeah it’s a fungus. whatever. you don’t have to slaughter anything in order to get it. i promise you will love these little nugs of delight!!!
