Happy day, friendly friends.
I told you I’d post another Alice in Wonderland related blog this week, so here it is. I was thinking about writing this one before the Muchness post, but that post just wrote itself. Couldn’t help it. :)
Now, this is another scene from the movie that really stuck with me. It got me fired up to BELIEVE IN MYSELF, and to believe in things that seem difficult or “impossible.”
I thought I’d share with you Alice’s 6-step process for believing in yourself.
First, you should watch this video. Warning, it is a little violent, as this is the scene where (SPOILER ALERT) Alice slays the Jabberwocky.
She spent the entire first 3/4 of the movie INSISTING that she could not slay the Jabberwocky, and that she wasn’t the heroic Alice everyone was talking about. In fact, she told everybody that she was the “wrong Alice.”
In order to believe she could actually slay the Jabberwocky, she had to say 5 other “impossible” things that she had seen or experienced — things she previously thought couldn’t happen, but had in fact happened. After she said those things out loud, she realized that yes, “impossible” things do happen, and yes, she actually CAN slay the Jabberwocky.
Think of the Jabberwocky as something difficult or “impossible” that you want to do, accomplish or experience. Something you’ve been doubting.
Now, use Alice’s 6-step process, and see if it changes things.
FYI, the first 5 steps in this process are the same. ;) Stay with me here.
STEP 1) Think of something you’ve done, accomplished, or experienced that you’re proud of/impressed by. Write it down.
STEP 2) Think of something else you’ve done, accomplished or experienced that you’re proud of/impressed by. Write it down.
STEP 3) Think of something else you’ve done, accomplished or experienced that you’re proud of/impressed by. Write it down.
STEP 4) Think of something else you’ve done, accomplished or experienced that you’re proud of/impressed by. Write it down.
STEP 5) Think of something else you’ve done, accomplished or experienced that you’re proud of/impressed by. Write it down.
***LOOK HOW AWESOME YOU ARE!***
STEP 6) Now that you have those 5 things, write down that thing you WANT to do, accomplish or experience — that thing you’ve been doubting — and write it with “I can _____” or “I will ______” (not “I want to”), and then read the entire list out loud.
See? You’re amazing!!!!! You’ve done and experienced some incredible things in your life so far, and you WILL do so again! I guarantee it. :)
Try it and please let me know how it goes in the comments! I wanna hear what you’ve done and what you now believe (wholeheartedly) that you can and will do. :)
Just to recap, Alice’s 6 impossible things that she realized weren’t actually impossible were…
- There’s a potion that can make you shrink.
- There’s a cake that can make you grow.
- Animals can talk.
- Cats can disappear.
- There’s a place called Wonderland.
- I CAN SLAY THE JABBERWOCKY
Yours will probably look a tiny bit different than hers (maybe not, I don’t know your life)…but hopefully you get the point.
Stop thinking you’re the wrong Alice. YOU ARE THE RIGHT ALICE and the world needs you.
Go go go!!!
Love,
Jenny
