I’m here in my hotel room at Stratton Mountain in Vermont. I’m waiting for my friends Jen and Ali, who are riding the Wanderbus from NYC – they’re expected to get in at 2:30am! There will definitely be some tired yogis out on the mats tomorrow, but true to yogi form I’m sure they’ll consider it an adventure, and even with their sleepy eyes they’ll drink in every last drop of the experience. The festival hasn’t even started and I can already feel the magical energy of the event swirling through this little ski village. Tonight as I arrived, people were all over the place setting up tents, testing microphones and getting ready for the crowd of yoga & music lovers to arrive.
The Wanderlust Festival is just that- a festival of yoga and music. There are 3 locations and dates — Vermont is happening now (June 21-24), and the upcoming festivals are in Copper, Colorado (July 5-8), Lake Tahoe, California (July 26-29) and Whistler, BC, Canada (August 23-26). There’s still time to jump on board for those!
I’m on the blogging team here at Wanderlust Vermont – obviously I’m delighted about that, since I love nothing more than to go out and experience healthy awesomeness and share it. So basically for the next 4 days, I’m going to take yoga classes, go on hikes, and listen to enlightening talks and report about them over at the Wanderlust blog. I looked at the schedule of classes and I’m so psyched to experience the wisdom of some of these teachers.
A few that I’m particularly looking forward to are Elena Brower, Rodney Yee, Seane Corn and Cyndi Lee, mainly because I’ve either had amazing classes with them before or I own their DVDs. There are a lot of other great classes on the schedule as well, including lots of stuff I’ve never heard of before…It’s time to stretch my boundaries and broaden my yoga horizons. :) By the end of this fest, I’m thinking I’ll be able to flow a little bit more peacefully through the chaos that is life.
The music at night includes acts like Ziggy Marley, Ani DiFranco, MC Yogi and Beats Antique. I’m pretty sure it’ll be a bliss fest, complete with magic musical vibes.
Aside from the yoga and music, the little village of Stratton is bursting at the seams with healthy food, vendors and activities. I’m going to be like a kid in a candy store over here!! I’ll also be tweeting updates & instagram pics as the festival goes along.
Have you ever been to a Wanderlust Festival?
