Hello little darlings.
Once again I’m writing at night (it’s 11:42 pm) but it’s because I’ve had a VERY FULL day at Kripalu. It’s funny how on retreats like this, one day can feel like a week. So much has happened today.
I’m here at Gabby’s The Universe Has Your Back Retreat, which is based on her book.
My friends and I have been swimming through these lessons all day long, and helping each other work through them. I’m really grateful for the community that has been built around this work, it’s so special. Thank you Gabby, Jamie and Robyn for being my circle of light this weekend.
Here are some of my favorite lessons from the retreat so far, straight from my notebook full of notes. :) These are just snippets of my notes, but they are quotes and phrases I found insightful today. If anything sparks your curiosity, all of these lessons and more are in The Universe Has Your Back.
Joy
“Joy is the ultimate creator, fun is the antidote to resistance.”
Instead of asking yourself, “how much can I get done?” ask yourself “how peaceful can I feel?”
You’re in much higher service to others when you’re in your joy.
Don’t take on more than what is joyful.
“Imagine if we lived in the presence of peace regardless of the outcome?”
Just Be It
Someone in the workshop asked the question about sharing her spiritual path with people in her life and being nervous that they wouldn’t be on the same page – how should she talk about it?
When you’re learning something new that’s really changing your life in a positive way, whether it’s embarking on a new career path, a new spiritual path, an eating plan, a workout, or something similar….
“Don’t talk about it. Just BE IT.”
I loved this, it reminded me of the time I ended up signing up for Landmark after many years of people trying to tell me to do it – the person who inspired me to sign up just lived the teachings and got me curious enough to ask where he learned it all, and then I made my own decision.
“Just be in your bigness. Consciously choose that you are not going to lower your vibration for anyone. Maintain your high vibration no matter what.”
Because, as I said above…you’re in much more service to the world when you’re in your joy.
“When you have no doubt, and you’re standing in unshakeable certainty, nobody can affect you with your opinions – it just won’t have an impact.”
Wouldn’t It Be Fun If….?
“Some of us are so clean about what we eat, but so dirty about what we think.”
In an area of your life where you’re struggling or looking at with a negative or fearful mindset, finish this sentence: “Wouldn’t it be fun if _____ ?”
What could happen that would be FUN in this situation? Get into the feeling state of joy and fun with whatever you’re desiring in your life, see how quickly things change…
Most of the time, when we’re thinking about a change we want to make, we’re thinking about what we don’t like about it, rather than what would make us joyful.
Become determined to see through the eyes of love. And then welcome CREATIVE POSSIBILITIES.
The Holy Instant
I keep writing and then deleting this section explaining the holy instant, and I’m not sure why, except that I wasn’t sure I was ready to talk about it. But I will. I think it’s important. Gabby describes the holy instant (a concept from A Course in Miracles) as the moment when your thoughts about a situation or person are transformed back to love.
The moment when you choose to see someone, especially someone you’re frustrated with or in a difficult situation with…through the lens of love.
The moment when the resentment melts away and love floods into your heart.
I had a holy instant today, and I had been asking for it since the morning. I went through a frustrating situation with someone very close to me, and I kept thinking “I’m willing to see this through the eyes of love. Please help me shift my perception of this.” Eventually, I did have that holy instant, and it brought our relationship closer than it ever has been in years. (I told you, a lot happened today!)
What leads to the holy instant? And what led to my holy instant today? Well, it’s pretty simple really — going on a rampage of appreciation. It works especially well when you’re frustrated with someone. Go on that appreciation rampage, and you’ll start loving them so much you might actually even forget why you were so annoyed with them in the first place. I can promise you, that holy instant is worth working for.
Dwell In This Energy…
What would you do if you lived in complete faith and certainty?
Become brave enough to wonder.
What is the movie you’re playing in your mind about your life and your future? What is the movie you WANT to see? Change the reel. Dwell in the energy of who you want to be.
I love you guys, and it’s time for bed so I can wake up and have another session tomorrow morning. I may come back and expand on some of these topics, but for now these are my notes from the workshop!
You can find all of this and much more in The Universe Has Your Back and the (upcoming!) Judgment Detox.
